On the agenda, is the planned CPZ consultation, and the East Sydenham Healthy Neighbourhood.
Lewisham Council will only introduce CPZs when the majority of residents who respond to the consultation are in favour of the scheme.
The council does not seek to impose CPZs where residents don’t want them. The main benefit of a CPZ is that street parking is reserved for local residents and not used by commuters or shoppers. The drawback to the scheme is that junctions are double yellow-lined, there are designated pay-and-display bays for customers of local businesses and there is a charge for the parking permit. Please feel free to come along to the Assembly to hear more about how Lewisham will be consulting, and let us know your views.
The Healthy Neighbourhood (East Sydenham) will also be discussed. We know from the recent NCIL funding consultation that issues like traffic and air quality come high on the list of priorities for our residents.
