Introduction of Charges at Girton Road Car Park

#1

For many years, the Girton Road Car Park in the centre of the shopping area in Sydenham Road has been free thanks to an agreed subsidy from local supermarket owners such as the Coop.

Soon parking charges will be introduced.

The charges would apply to all motor vehicles other than a vehicle displaying a disabled person’s badge. The charge would be free for up to 2 hours; £1.40 for up to 3 hours and £5 for more than three hours. All charges are for one day only.

Any objection or other representations relating to the proposed Order must be made in writing and all objections must specify the grounds on which they are made and must be emailed to: parkingdesign@lewisham.gov.uk or posted to:
Lewisham Transport Policy & Development, 4th Floor, Laurence House, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU, quoting this reference: Girton Road Car Park Charging, to arrive not later than 29 March 2019.

When parking in the street is free of charge and unrestricted, surely the impact of these charges will be to turn Girton Road into a ghost car park??
